MARY LOU RYAN, CO-FOUNDER & DESIGNER, BASSIKE, SYDNEY.
BASSIKE DESIGNER AND CO-FOUNDER MARY LOU RYAN LIVES BY THE BEACH IN SYDNEY WITH HER YOUNG FAMILY. HERE SHE CHATS TO DR. SIMONE LAUBSCHER PHD ABOUT HOW SHE FUELS HER CREATIVITY.
Morning: I have two young boys, so I do most of my fitness either before they wake up or after we put them to bed. We live by the beach in Tamarama, so I do a mix of training like yoga, boxing and weights, however I do love a good morning walk at sunrise the best.
Dr. Simone Laubscher PhD. (DL) says: Sounds amazing, and I'm in a similar situation so I understand the need to grab exercise where you can each day :)

Breakfast: Two boiled eggs with a mix of rocket and kale, fresh avocado, freshly-squeezed lemon juice, fresh chillies, and a cup of English Breakfast Tea.
DL: Perfect! I would hydrate as soon as your feet hit the ground, which I'm sure you do, but in case you don't lemon and ginger in a pint of water is great. The caffeine in the tea will reduce the absorption of minerals into your body, so this is best an hour away from meals. You can add herbal tea here and have your tea a little later if possible.
Mid-morning snack: Berries.
DL: Great! If you feel tired before lunch, add a handful of walnuts or almonds.

Lunch: Poached chicken salad, with roasted sweet potato, rocket, red onion, capsicum, tomato, Meredith Valley Fetta, organic olive oil, caramalised balsamic and fresh chilli.
DL: Sounds delicious, just make sure the chicken is organic to reduce any nasty added hormones that can play havoc with moods, fertility and metabolism. If in doubt or if you buy your lunch, choose fish or go veggie, and have a WelleCo NOURISHING PROTEIN on the side or later in the afternoon. It’s a good source of protein that keeps blood sugar levels up allowing you to finish the day strong.
Afternoon snack: Carrot or celery and hummus dip.
Dinner: Lamb back strap marinated with chilli and tamari with a green salad or roasted vegetables of potato, garlic, onion, carrots and pumpkin.
DL: Sorry to say this again, but check the lamb’s source to reduce the risk of nasty hormones. The more legs an animal has, the more acidic it is, and the more cholesterol it has. Try rotating in fish where you can. If you are a real carnivore, make sure you take supergreens like THE SUPER ELIXIR everyday to negate the acidic effects.
Before bed: Sometimes I sneak in a little chocolate after dinner.
DL: Be sure to keep it dark so you don’t experience any sugar spikes before bed. This will help reduce fatigue the next morning and body fat abnormalities.
